Christopher U. Jones,
M.D., F.A.C.R.

Christopher Jones, M.D., a radiation oncologist with RAS’ Radiation Oncology Centers (ROC), is one of the nation’s leading authorities on head and neck cancers. Jones, recently published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine, serves as RAS’ principal investigator for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) and also is a member of the RTOG’s Head and Neck steering committee that determines which clinical trials will be done in the U.S. and Canada. Using such leading-edge technology as PET/CT fusion for treatment planning, HDR Brachytherapy and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Jones and his colleagues deliver the type of intense, yet precisely targeted dose of radiation needed to destroy cancerous cells while still preserving healthy tissue. A Renaissance man, Jones plays principal French Horn with the Camellia Symphony Orchestra and has performed with symphonies in Chicago, Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area and Europe. He also likes to hike, reaching the summit of Mt. Shasta in 2000.
